Every student should know the guidelines for the Alberta High School Diploma. It is the students’ responsibility to ensure that they have the proper courses and credits required for graduation, and to notify the school of any courses taken through Alberta Distance Learning.
Requirements
Graduation List Requirements
Graduation lists will be posted in the window of the main office starting in late Fall, and will be updated after Semester 1 diploma exam results in late February. The final list will be posted in early May.
Students whose names are on the graduation lists will be able to graduate from SGCHS and participate in the commencement ceremony, pending their continued good standing and diploma exam performance.
To be on the Graduation list, you must:
- Earn a minimum of 80 credits by the end of Semester I
- Maintain a minimum of 50% achievement in any required course throughout Semester II
- Submit any required Work Experience credits by the end of Q3
- Progress through required Semester II module-based course work with at least 50% completed by mid-April and a grade of at least 50%
- Maintain good standing in attendance and behaviour
Alberta High School Diploma Requirements
To attain an Alberta High School Diploma, a student must earn a minimum of 100 credits by completing:
- 15 credits in English (must complete 30-1 or 30-2)
- 15 credits in Social Studies (must complete 30-1 or 30-2)
- 10 credits in Mathematics (must complete 20 level)
- 10 credits in Science (must complete 20 level)
- 3 credits in Physical Education 10
- 3 credits in CALM (Career & Life Management)
- 10 credits in Options (Career & Technology Studies or Fine Arts Second Languages or Physical Education 20 or 30)
- 10 credits in any 30 level courses (other than English or Social)

High school transcripts can be ordered online at your own time and your own pace.

If you are applying to an Alberta post-secondary institution, the post-secondary institution can order transcripts online on your behalf from ApplyAlberta. Transcripts ordered from ApplyAlberta on your behalf are free of charge.
- Transcripts for other purposes, can be ordered online from myPass.alberta.ca. There is a small non-refundable processing fee for each copy. You can request transcripts to be sent on your behalf to any destination of your choice.
