David Pysyk Memorial Tournament dates announced

The David Pysyk Memorial Volleyball Tournament is back for another year with teams from four different provinces competing.

“David Pysyk was a principal at SGCHS and other schools in our district for many years,” explained Rhonda Lang, a teacher at SGCHS. David was an incredible leader who was instrumental in the success and growth of this tournament throughout the years.”

The tournament’s name was changed in 2021 after Pysyk lost his battle with cancer.

The annual tournament features 48 of the top 4A teams from across Western Canada. The exhibition games start on Thursday, October 10 with the U Sport National Champions U of A Golden Bears vs CCAA National Champions NAIT Ooks at 7pm at the SGCHS main gym.

The games will take place at the TransAlta Tri-Leisure Centre, Spruce Grove Composite High School and Woodhaven Middle School.
